Pinterest connection shows 401 errors
Fix Pinterest OAuth token issues by reconnecting.
A 401 error means Pinterest is no longer accepting the access token for your connection. This usually happens when a token has expired, was revoked, or predates a permissions update. The fix is almost always a quick reconnect.
To fix it:
- Go to Integrations.
- Find your Pinterest connection and click Reconnect (or disconnect, then Connect Pinterest again).
- Log in on Pinterest and approve access again.
- Return to PIN Hacking and confirm the connection shows as healthy.
Why this happens:
- Expired or revoked token. If you changed your Pinterest password, removed the app in Pinterest settings, or a lot of time passed, the token stops working and needs a fresh approval.
- Older connection missing newer permissions. If you connected before newer access was added, you may see a prompt to reconnect to upgrade access. Reconnecting grants the current permissions.
If reconnecting does not fix it:
- Make sure you are approving the correct Pinterest account, the one with your boards and pins.
- Try disconnecting fully, refreshing the page, then connecting again.
- Clear the connection and retry once more before reaching out.
